I grew up, like many musicians, playing drums in the church. This meant being involved in many different worship teams and playing for churches all over Niagara, the GTA, and abroad. I recorded a couple of worship drum covers (which, by God’s grace, have together accumulated over half a million views) to help church drummers learn the parts for their Sunday morning worship services.
I was raised in a musical home. My father has been a music educator & a professional musician/saxophone player since well before I came along. There was constantly a wide variety of music being played in the house. I’ve been exposed to this incredible music education & world-class musical talent ever since I can remember.
I started playing drums at the age of 14. Because of my musical background with other instruments, my upbringing, and my obsession with the instrument…. I caught on pretty quickly and soon after started gigging with my dad at corporate lounge jazz gigs, got involved in the church worship teams, and played in a couple of original bands.
But above music and drumming, I’m a sinner saved by the grace of God, husband to my beautiful wife, and father to my 4 children.
My goal with teaching drums is to first, give back the gift of music that’s been given to me by my father and the many other musical mentors I've had over the years. I want to pass on and steward well, what’s been given to me and continue this multi-generational legacy of music.
Secondly, to glorify God in all that I do, and to train up future drummers to go out into the world and take dominion and spread the gospel through the means of music. Whether that be through their bands, church worship teams, or just the joy that playing in the basement practice room will bring.
